My third Yamaha LC restoration.
I purchased the bike locally off a guy that had owned it for a few years who had never got around to restoring it. I was quick off the mark and spotted it as he’d posted it for sale and paid him a deposit before seeing. I paid $2000 as it was and he was surprised on how much attention it had got especially as he’d only paid 1k for it a few years back.
It looked pretty complete and at least for once most bits seemed to there.
On dismantling I noticed how many nuts and bolts etc. were original which was pretty rare as most old LC’s had been taken apart so many times that the originals get lost. It made me think that it would be a good bike to make as totally original as possible using my collection of genuine Yam “new old spares” which I had been saving for the right bike.
The bike turned out pretty spectacular and I still feel was my best LC restoration so far. I even went to the trouble of having all the nuts and bolts refinished in their original drab olive green, which I know some think is a bit too far but I personally think the LC looks better with its original state which includes their fairly unusual coloured nuts and bolts.
This is definitely the one I should not have sold, but hey you can’t keep ‘em all
